On January 13th and 14th, the President and Committee members of the International Lyceum Club of London (ILCL) met the President, Vice-President, and members of the Comité de Jumelage of the International Lyceum Club of Paris (ILCP) to commence the process of the formal twinning of the two clubs.
Paris was cold but sunny and her usual beautiful self.
The London Twinning Committee was very enthusiastically welcomed and everyone started off with a lunch at the Senat where both Presidents of the International Lyceum Club of Paris and of London and the Vice-President of the International Lyceum Club of Paris presented the details of the planned twinning to members present. This was very positively received, with many members coming to chat to the London members about how pleased they were that the two historical Lyceum Clubs, London and Paris were starting this twinning process. What a great cultural and friendly exchange this will be.
The London Twinning Committee were then welcomed to the home of ILCP President, where they were wined and dined following a very lively and positive discussion by the two committees, highlighting the mutual benefits for both clubs.
The following day the London delegation was treated to a tour of the British Embassy by the resident butler, Ben, and where they met their new and old friends and had great discussions about their mutual plans for their Lyceum members.
They then had a final lunch at the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée where they started to plan the return visit in December when the twinning will be official signed by the Presidents of the International Lyceum Clubs of Paris and London, paving the way to the next stage of this great cultural exchange and friendship.
This twinning initiative started in early 2024, the year when France and Great Britain celebrated the 120th Anniversary of the Entente Cordiale.
The twinning committee is led by Lauriane Bradford, President of the ILCL,
and includes the following members:
Hilary Haynes
Anne Cavell
Perianne Graham
Ana Preocanin, as Honorary Secretary, is invited to join the twinning committee
